Our claims assessing services

CGU have a specialised national Claims Assessment Team, who is responsible for managing both our motor and home claim assessments. We have professionally trained internal assessors and also work with a range of external assessing providers across all states to ensure we maintain satisfactory customer service.

At the time of lodgement our Claims Consultants will be able to advise you of the claims assessment process for your specific claim.

Our assessing teams work to complete your claims assessment as soon as possible, we generally work to complete motor assessments within a 24 hour period, so that you receive timely and quality service.

You will be able to arrange your motor repair appointment at the time you receive the quote from the repairer – this will help reduce the assessing and repair process and ensure that the repair work is planned for a time that suits you.

CGU will telephone you after we authorise their quote, so you can confirm the repair booking with your repairer.

Choosing your own service provider

You can choose your own service supplier. If you want to use your local supplier for repairs and their quote is considered fair and reasonable, you can use their services.

However, as they are not part of our supplier network and we have not performed a reference check on the company, we cannot guarantee the quality of workmanship or compliance with appropriate regulations. We advise that you speak with CGU prior to commencing any repair or replacement work so that we can ensure that your quote is fair and reasonable, it will reinstate you back to your position prior to the claim and that you will be reimbursed for any costs you incur.
