CGU Fantasy Football - Round 6Here is a list of all the players who have gained an extra positon next to their name. This occurs every six rounds (next ones in round 12/18) and adds a new dimension to the AFL Fantasy game and allows you to select players in their new positions or switch them to strengthen your team.
Matthew Boyd (DEF/MID, $560,000) and David Mundy (DEF/MID $602,000) are the most relevant players who have been given an extra position. These two stars have averaged 105 and 118 respectively this year and are now the best defenders available along with the suspended Luke Hodge (avg. 114). They’re not cheap though, so start saving those pennies to boost your struggling backline.
Mitch Clark (RUC/FWD, $260,000) gains ‘ruck status’ and can now be a handy bench option there, especially when the bye rounds start. Aaron VandenBerg (FWD/MID, $313,000) might make his way towards the forward line in our teams to either start on your field or to be used as solid option on your bench.
Other useful changes are to Christian Salem (FWD/DEF, $297,000) who can now be used as a defender as can Lion’s midfielder Daniel Rich (DEF/MID, $387,000).
These changes are very significant so start shuffling your team to get the most out of each player.
Steele Sidebottom Injury Update
“My injury is getting better every day and I’ve been doing more exercises to improve the mobility in my thumb.”
“I’ve maintained my running fitness, so once the bone has healed I just need to regain the movement in my hand and get to a point where I feel comfortable marking and handballing.”
- Steele Sidebottom
An injured Ablett, a suspended Lewis and a bashed and battered Rockliff means we have a tough job ahead of us this week when picking a Fantasy captain.
BEST PICK: Nathan Fyfe
Fyfe has averaged 112 over the last month and has posted 108 last time he met the Bombers. They’re his favourite team to score Fantasy points again, not scoring under 92 in his last 14 games against them.
BIG PICK: Stefan Martin
Big Stef has averaged 114 in his last three games and will dominate this week against the Carlton ruck department. Grundy (116) and Longer (128) won their battles convincingly last time they went against Cam Wood and so should Martin.
THE PIE: Scott Pendlebury
Pendles scored 138 last week but will be tagged this week by Guthrie who held him to 94 last year. He’ll fight through that though for another 100+ score.
THE BEST OF THE REST: Brad Ebert, Dan Hannebery, David Armitage and Dyson Heppell.
At this stage, I will be off loading the suspended Jordan Lewis and rookie Adam Saad in my backline. Dyson Heppell and newly crowned defender David Mundy will come into my team as I use all the cash up that I saved up from last week when I scored 2101 that sits me currently ranked at 3905.
