CGU Fantasy Football - Round 3
Oxley Saves the Day
Even with a broken thumb, CGUs Fantasy Football ambassador Steele Sidebottom would be giving the thumbs up to his team mate Adam Oxley (DEF, $177,000) this week. He scored an incredible 103 points and saved the day for many Fantasy teams. After receiving the vest in round one, Oxley came out with all guns blazing.
He had 33 touches and even took seven kick-ins against the Crows, kicking it to himself on six occasions. This was brilliant stuff by the ‘Ox’ and we all have our fingers (and thumbs) crossed that he can replicate it again this Friday night against the Saints.
Exclusive Steele Sidebottom Injury Update
“We initially thought it was a clean break but found out I have actually fragmented the bone in my thumb, so I’ve had surgery to clean it all up and will be out for around six to eight weeks.”
“The positive is I’ll be able to maintain my running fitness and should be right to go once the bone has healed and I get my touch back.”
“I just started a new golf membership so I am a bit flat about missing out on some quality time on the greens, not to mention having to sleep on my back the whole time!”
- Steele Sidebottom
Hurry up and get the ‘Bont’
Marcus Bontempelli (FWD/MID, $447,000) has already risen by $55,000 from his starting price but he is shaping up as one of the ‘must have’ players in 2015. He has scored 104 and 133 so far this year and is a tackling machine. Despite his price rise, it’s not too late to jump on board the ‘Bont’ train, as I am doing this week. He still has a break-even of just 23. This means, if he can achieve that score (which he will) his price will rise again. Do yourself a favour and trade him in!
This week, you can’t look past Jordan Lewis (MID, $658,000). He plays the Bulldogs at Aurora Stadium (TAS), a ground he averaged 111 at last year. Lewis scored 119 last week and clocked up 102 and 106 against the Dogs in 2014.
Dyson Heppell (MID, $616,000) is also shaping up as a good pick, especially after he had 129 last week. He averages 109 against Carlton in his last three games and should dominate on Saturday afternoon.
My roughie for this week is Fremantle superstar Nathan Fyfe (MID, $577,000). He scored 116 last week against Geelong and has averaged 121 in his last three against the Eagles who he plays this week.
Finally, if you haven’t traded him out yet, now is probably the time to offload Gary Ablett (MID, $603,000) who struggled again last week and only scored 70 points. He has been ruled out of this week’s game and could be sidelined for some time. The best replacement for Ablett would have to be Scott Pendlebury (MID, $602,000). He plays the Saints this week and scored 113 against them last year and should repay you instantly with a great score.
This week I scored a disgraceful 1868 (13,629th overall) but was hammered with some bad luck. Jimmy Bartel and Josh Gibson were both late outs and my team crumbled around them. I’ll be back this week though and have traded Kade Kolodjashnij and Sidebottom out for Bontempelli and Kade Simpson (BAC, $521,000).
Congratulations to Favourites FFC coached by Nick Mammoliti from Victoria who top scored with 2090 this week in CGUs Fantasy Football competition. They’re the lucky recipient of a $50 VISA Gift Card.
All the best for round three.
Catch you next week.
