CGU Fantasy Football - Round 11

CGU Fantasy Football - Round 11

THE BYES ARE HERE

Strategy #1: Upgrade and build

Firstly this is a strategy that the best Fantasy coaches use as it makes your team better as the byes roll on. Here you can still downgrade your rookies to people like Dumont  (MID, $185,000) or Clurely (DEF, $154,000) who have the round 13 bye and upgrade your ‘mid-range’ player to premiums who also have that round 13 bye as I mentioned last week.
Chasing players like Adam Treloar, Matt Priddis, Devon Smith and Elliott Yeo are players from all positions who you should be targeting.

With that said, you don’t want to completely change the way your team looks or bring in players you don’t actually want. This is exactly why I will be going for strategy #2 this week as I just don’t have the money to pick up the premiums I actually want.

Strategy #2: Cash-up

Fill up that piggy bank with some cold hard cash to use over the next two weeks by trading out rookies you don’t need (or have the bye) for rookies who are cheap and playing.

As I’ve previously mentioned, Dumont (MID, $185,000) and Clurely (DEF, $154,000) are the prime targets along with Elliott Kavanagh (MID, $167,000) who dominated last week in his first game for 83pts or even Orazio Fantasia (FWD, $159,000) if you are seeking a forward option.

This cash will enable you to trade out guys next week who have their byes coming up (Rd. 12/13) for gun players who have just had theirs.

Strategy #3: Switch Premiums

Some people love this as an option but I’m not a huge fan. Switching premium players from week to week to assist your byes doesn’t actually make your team any stronger. It might help your score slightly but your team will not get any better and let’s not forget, we have many more rounds of AFL Fantasy to go.

CALVIN’S CAPTAINS

BEST PICKNat Fyfe
How can you pass on the best player in the league playing against the easiest team to score Fantasy points on? I’m referring to the Gold Coast Suns. Last week, the top 5 scoring Sydney players averaged 129 against them and now Fyfe gets his turn. The man is chasing a Brownlow and will dominate at Metricon Stadium.

NEXT BESTDavid Armitage
Armitage scored his ninth straight 100+ score last week against the Hawks and is in such hot form, he’s hard to pass on against the Demons.

THE ROUGHIEMatt Priddis
Priddis had 113 last week and even posted 143 against the Bombers last year. Not only does he have a very nice round 13 bye, he is playing a team who allowed eight Geelong players to score a ton last week. He’s at home and will score very well this week. The perfect premium midfielder to trade in.

Good luck for round 11 and join me this Friday night between 5pm and 6pm for a live tweet chat where I’ll be answering all your AFL Fantasy questions.
