BYE STRATEGY

After this round, the byes are upon us and this mean ‘Panic Stations’ in the world of AFL Fantasy. Firstly, here are some important facts you’ll need to know about round 11, 12 and 13.

   1)    Your best 18 scorers count during this time and they must be on the field
   2)    Having an even spread of players is therefore vital, but being heavy in round 13 is ideal. Being heavy in round 11 isn’t.
   3)    Throughout the byes, use your trades wisely to get the most out of our team.

Basically, this week and next week I will be targeting round 13 players as my spread over the three bye rounds isn’t great.

By getting in round 13 players, allows you to trade them to round 11 or 12 players (who have had their bye) when round 13 comes. Meaning, you won’t lose points from that positon.

With that said, let’s look at the best round 13 options.

In the backline, Geelong duo Jackson Thurlow (DEF/MID, $394,000) and Corey Enright (DEF, $478,000) are two great picks. Both have been on fire but the best selection must be Elliot Yeo (DEF/MID, $479,000) who missed last week through suspension. Before that he posted scores of 96, 150, 93 and 112.

Brownlow medallist Matthew Priddis (MID, $584,000) is always a solid option. He has averaged 116 in his last three games this year but for value you can’t look past GWS young gun Toby Greene (MID, $511,000) who is $72,000 cheaper than his starting price after a slow start to the year.

Ignore his score of 52 last week, because Devon Smith (FWD/MID, $514,000) is an easy choice in your forward line. Prior to that he scored 99+ in five of his last six games and is an absolute jet.

CALVIN’S CAPTAINS

BEST PICKLuke Parker

Parker scored 98 and 119 against the Suns last year and over the last three weeks, teams have scored with ease against Gold Coast with the top five players in each game averaging 130+ between them. This is crazy! Last week, Shiels (154) and Hodge (131) cleaned them up and the week before that it was Pendlebury (141) and Williams (133) getting it down. The Swans will dominate the struggling Suns, and so will Luke Parker.

NEXT BESTDane Swan

Dane Swan loves playing on the Queen’s Birthday game and has scored 114, 130 and 142 against Melbourne in his last three games on that day. He is currently ranked as the #3 most inform player over the last three weeks at 121pts a game.

THE ROUGHIESam Jacobs

Jacobs only scored 63 last week but will dominate Carlton in round 10. Mike Pyke scored 96 against the Blues last week and he did it without even getting a kick. Amazing! He’ll be back to his best this week for sure.

Good luck for round 10 and stay tuned for a Twitter Q&A coming up very soon!
