Donna's Desk

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to the November edition of Insights.

Following the popularity of last month’s piece on the cyclone outlook, Dr Bruce Buckley has provided a timely perspective on the perils of bushfires. Unfortunately we have already experienced our first fires for the season, with tragic consequences and it has been well documented the conditions ahead will be challenging.

This time of year, fires during harvesting are a common risk. A fire can start either in the crops near the harvesting activity, or inside the harvesting machinery – often while it is being operated.  Such fires can not only cause a great deal of physical damage but can also lead to a business interruption as sourcing replacement harvesters in the middle of the season can be time consuming and expensive.  We explore some simple, yet effective tips you may like to share with your customers.

We have also launched our catastrophe season campaign across our social channels.  Whilst we have a track record of being there for your customers after an ‘event’, this is the first time we have taken a proactive approach with the impending CAT season, prompting customers to be prepared with relevant tips for the various weather events.  This campaign will be live throughout CAT season and we will change the preventative messages to those of support should we experience and major event.

I am pleased the rollout of our Business Protection Management Liability onto Sunrise is underway and the first of two phases is complete.   We have also made some enhancements to our Management Liability cover, please take the time to read about this further or speak with your Business Relationship Manager.

From Monday 30 November the claims portal has been enhanced to enable online claims lodgement as well as being able to view and track your claims’ status.  This new full service claims management tool can be accessed via the adviser portal with single sign on, and will allow you to better service your customer enquiries and claims’ needs in a quick and efficient manner.

As part of our commitment to delivering a market leading partner experience, we are launching a new approach to obtaining feedback from you about your experience with CGU.  Many of you will have received an invitation from CGU to complete a short online survey about your experience with us. Your feedback about the experience we are providing, gives us the opportunity to continually improve our service. If you receive this invitation, I would encourage you to take the opportunity to tell us what you think, good and not so good.

It has been wonderful to catch up with those of you who have been our guests at the various events held throughout November at the Spring Racing Carnival, the polo in Brisbane and Sydney, as well our deep dive into Commercial Motor in Adelaide, with more polo events to take place around the country in December.   This time of year is naturally busy and I appreciate you taking the time to relax and reflect on the year with us.

Warm regards,

Donna Walker
