John Evans
General Manager, Retail
John is the General Manager of Retail strategic distribution unit, bringing over 40 years of experience to the role. Prior to his appointment, John was Head of Regional and Rural business at CGU, where he gained extensive experience managing the relationships and distribution of regional and rural intermediaries.
Since joining CGU in 1966 as an Underwriting Clerk with Commercial Union in Adelaide, John has held a variety of roles including Area Manager, Account Executive, State Manager (Western Australia and Victoria) as well as Manager Commercial, including International Risks and Territories and Islands. He also spent a number of years working with Union Insurance, one of the Group's subsidiaries.
John has worked in various locations throughout Australia and has experience working overseas in the United Kingdom, USA and Singapore. He also spent two years with the National Service serving in Vietnam in 1969 and 1970.
