CGU Community Sponsorship Guidelines

CGU is regularly asked to provide sponsorship for many worthy community initiatives. However, it is not possible to support every initiative.

We use the following guidelines to evaluate opportunities. If your initiative meets the following guidelines, we welcome your sponsorship application for further consideration.

Sponsorship criteria

Initiatives we sponsor must have a tangible link with our commitment to reducing risk in the community and meet one or more of the following risk-reduction criteria:.

  • Increasing community understanding of insurance through activities such as financial literacy programs, with a particular focus on underinsurance.
  • Improving workplace safety and helping people return to work.
  • Reducing commercial and rural crime.
  • Reducing the risk of commercial and rural fire incidences.
  • Increasing the community's awareness and understanding of the impacts of weather events associated with climate change, in particular the impact on:
    • rural and/or business communities
    • homes.

Importantly, preference will be given to initiatives that also meet the following criteria:

  • Associated or linked with existing CGU partnerships or relationships.
  • Preventative and sustainable.
  • Provides opportunities for CGU employees and other stakeholders to get involved.
  • Provides branding, marketing, hospitality and product opportunities.
  • Provides an exclusive (or at least industry-exclusive) arrangement with CGU.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to win/win outcomes.

Shared goals are also important, as are collaboration, capacity building and measurable outcomes.
