CGU is excited to be the new Premier Partner of Collingwood Football Club, undeniably one of Australia’s marquee sporting clubs and most recognised brands.

Working in partnership – CGU and Collingwood Football Club

Our partnership allows two strong Australian brands who share a rich and successful heritage to work together in the pursuit of success. CGU has been part of Australia since 1851, and Victoria has always been our home ground.

  • The CGU brand will feature on the back of the Collingwood home guernsey and on the front of the away and clash guernseys. The brand will also appear on the front of the home shorts
  • The partnership between Collingwood and CGU is for seven years
  • Like Collingwood, CGU has a rich Australian heritage, having first started
    business in 1851
  • CGU and Collingwood have both demonstrated superior leadership skills in their chosen fields

About Collingwood Football Club

Established in 1892, the Collingwood Football Club is one of the biggest and most famous sporting clubs in Australia. The Magpies have won 15 VFL/AFL premierships, and have contested more Grand Finals (42 - including two in 1977, and 2 in 2010) than any other club.
Collingwood had a highly successful 2010 AFL Premiership Season:

  • Winning the AFL Premiership Cup
  • Achieving an all-time AFL membership record of 58,156, a 24.9 per cent rise from 2009. This is the largest increase of members from one season to the next Collingwood has ever experienced
  • The average attendance for Collingwood home games was 63,256, with the average crowd at the MCG for Collingwood games exceeding 74,000 – second in the world only to Manchester United
  • The first 2010 Grand Final was attended by 100,016 people with the Grand Final Replay attracting 93,853 people. This took Collingwood’s total attendances for 2010 to almost 1.7m people, which is an all-time AFL/VFL total attendance record.
  • Collingwood’s total TV was audience was more than 27m people
